The Wimbledon Party 2011: Tennis Stars Serving Fashion Aces

Tennis is no longer about whites only. The stars almost give as much to their outfits as to the game itself. And fashion was at its peak for these ace tennis players at the Pre-Wimbledon party on 16th June in London. Check these out.

Best and Scandals from MTV Movie Awards 2011

Here are some pictures from the MTV awards 2011 held last Sunday (June 5) at the Universal Studios’ Gibson Amphitheatre in California.

She looked pretty in an ivory jewel encrusted Marchesa short white dress. She teamed it up with stunning silver Brian Atwood heels.

Yes, the girl has grown up from a little kid in the first Harry Potter movie to a young woman in the last of the series. But since we've seen her from such a young age, she will always look pretty and cute to me rather than hot and sexy! And she's into short hair too :)

The 38 year old actress still looks young in a Phillip Lim jumpsuit, Lanvin stilettos.  

Okay, 'looks' may not be entirely correct, but still has the attitude!!

Kirsten Stewart

Omg, look who is smiling! For a change I liked Kirsten Stewart in this sizzling red dress by Balmain. I wouldn't say that she is not pretty, but why is she always so expressionless. Initially I thought it was the character, but I guess she is exactly like that in her real life too. When she was given an award, she maintained her expressionless face, could barely say anything, had that 'just let me go' look, while the actors were doing all kind of crazy stuff on receiving the award. But atleast we see her smiling here!

I like her make up because its simple but pretty!

Blake Lively

The Green Lantern star looks stunning in this blue Michael Kors dress. She also wore Louboutin shoes which look absolutely fabulous. And look at that pose!! I will also strike it when I do my next outfit post :), just that you will probably see protruding curves at some wrong places :)

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis

Mila is looking gorgeous in a top and skirt by Balmain, Charlotte Olympia shoes, a Lanvin clutch, and Hoorsenbuhs jewelry. Love the skirt!

And here comes the scandalous one!! Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis groping each other! Well yes, this award is an informal award ceremony, but did we really expect this level of casual touches!! This is neither cool nor funny!

Another scandolous one! Wth is she wearing!! I don't really want to know!! Looks like she has stuffed something in!

Best and Worst Dressed Celebrities at Cannes 2011

I was waiting the Cannes 2011 Film Festival to end before coming up with my verdict on the best and worst dressed celebrities. However, there have been so many celebrities walking the red carpet, I may have missed a few anyway. So I decided to write the post, with 2 more days still to go! I was wondering how many I should pick, but then I just let it be spontaneous. This is what I have so far!

Who is Hot?

My Top Choice is Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace! 

She rocked the red carpet in this timeless brown strapless gown.

Bar Rafaeli in Roberto Cavalli

She looks stunning in the body hugging gown, nicely accentuating her curves.

Gwen Steffani in her own creation!

Hats off to her, not only for looking gorgeous but creating the gorgeous piece herself.

Uma Thurman in Versace

The actress carries of this strapless white gown in style. I just wish the hairdo was a little more neat!

Karolina Kurkova in Armani Prive

She is looking a little lifeless in this particular picture, but the off-shoulder gown is gorgeous!

Fan Bingbing in Versace

I really love this dress. Had never looked at Fan so closely, it's all because of the dress.

She looks graceful and chic in this satin strapless gown!

Who is Not so Hot?

I neither know the actress, nor the designer, all I know is this is weird! 

What on earth is this? Should I call it a one-legged jumpsuit?

Everyone wants to look different, but this was much more serious than that! Yes, I experienced a shock of a 'different' level altogether when I saw this!

First of all the dress doesn't seem to fit from anywhere. Secondly look at the flat chappals (sandals).

What, are we going shopping for groceries in the local market here? I guess we are at Cannes!

I don't know what she was thinking! This ultra-shiny short dress someone said looked like a bin-liner. 

I wouldn't be so harsh but this is repulsively shiny!!

The once-upon-a-time superhot model is wearing a lacy sheer gown which looks like a night dress!

Milla Jovovich in Prada

Where have the curves gone? And the red collar, that's not really stylish!

Diane Kruger in CK

There is nothing wrong with this dress but it's the fit on Diane that I don't like! 

The golden gown is hugging her a little too much, highlighting the bones and packs which does not look very pleasant!

Sheer Fashion at Cannes 2011

While sheer is something I don't quite like in lipsticks and nail-polishes, it is an interesting characteristic when it comes to clothing. We have seen quite a few sheer gowns at Cannes 2011 red carpet so far, some of them are nice, some not so nice and one of them is 'I would rather not see'. Let's take a look.

Here's Ms Mallika Sherawat. An embarrassment to probably even spiders!

I know I am being a little insensitive here to have put up that black spider. But then she too was not really sensitive to our aesthetic sense!

Rachel McAdams in Marchesa

She looks pretty in this sheer dress with bright red embellishment.

Overall I like it, but just think that the dress is not doing justice to her upper curves.

The South African model is hot, but did we really want to see so much details including that bum curve?

I don't like that look from the back. If you wanna show those curves then sport a bikini but not a red carpet gown!

Penelope Cruz in Marchesa

I think she looks pretty in this lilac. Who can say she had a baby this year? She can probably still lose a few more pounds but I still like it!

Lady Gaga at American Idol 2011 to Mentor (or Shock?) the Contestants

Lady Gaga visited the American Idol 2011 to mentor the top 4 contestants. Everyone knew it would be interesting, but noone knew exactly how interesting. Besides making it interesting, she also shocked the contestants (and the producers) a bit. No, I am not talking about her make-up here, 'Bizzare' is her USP and she beats her own record on that parameter everytime! It was a little more than just the make up. Let's see what.

Shock 0: The Look

I am calling this as shock zero because while it is always expected that she would arrive in a newer and more bizzare avatar everytime, it still did make eyes open wide :). The black boundary around the eyes, multi colored and multi layered wig.. and whats with that big black dot!!

Shock 1: The Shoes

The shoes were what made me to write this article. While watching the show I felt that there was something more about them besides being typically super-tall. But since the American Idol logo was always placed on them, I thought of taking a closer look on the internet.

And the reason why the show producers had strategically placed the logo on those clear plastic heels is because they were  phallic!!!! They were made by the London fashion brand Void of Course and were worth $ 4500!! But it was not about just the money, not all rich can wear these stilettos!

Shock 2: Bringing out the Theatrical Best in Performances

Lady Gaga being super-drama herself wanted all the contestants let go of their inhibitions and bring out their theatrical best in their performances!  

She challenged Haley Reinhart, one of the contestants to make her performance of  Ben E King's 'I (Who Have Nothing)' a little more, well, "psycho."! Reinhart's instant reaction was of shock of course! But she coped up well.

To another contestant, Scotty McCreery she said, "Get right in the center of that hot dog." ("I don't know where Gaga was going with that," McCreery admitted.) when she felthe wasn't properly singing into his microphone. She then told him to treat the mic like it was his girlfriend.

While  mentoring James Durbin to an Elvis track 'Love Potion #9', when she recommended Durbin swivel his hips like the King. "Get in your body a little more,' she suggested, and when he didn't immediately comply, she stood behind him, her hands on his hips, and moved them herself. He later confessed that he felt awkward and uncomfortable.

 On a closing note, I have to admit that I am a huge fan of Lady Gaga myself because she is a rock-star and a trend-setter. She dares to things that no-one else can and in her own style. You can never 'not notice' her! And not to forget, I love her voice too. She is a great entertainer! But then you cannot also deny the fact that she is weird too, and I generally like covering weird stuff if they are entertaining too. Hence this article about her.

Aishwarya at Cannes 2011

This is what our very own Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore at the opening ceremony of the 64th Cannes Film Festival. She walked the red carpet in an Elie Saab Spring 2011 Couture gown in stone color. The one-shoulder lightly-embellished mermaid gown had a peplum at the waist and was pretty. I only wish it had a little more color, say a touch of pink or peach or lavender. 

This is a model walking the ramp in the gown we are talking about. And as you can see, Ash brought life in this pale gown when we compare it to the model's look. It looked much more elegant on her, fitted her perfectly and accentuated her envious curves (and some not-so-toned muscles)!

Make Up and Accessories

Her make up was simple with smokey eyes highlighted with shimmer and plenty of mascara. She wore nude lip-gloss on her lips and her cheeks were blushed bronze. She also wore black on her nails. The hair was styled in a French twist with a few strands let loose.

The only jewelry she wore were a pair of dazzling earrings and a chunky ring on her finger (from Chopard is what I heard). What she is wearing closely resembles this!

She was carrying a Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ clutch.

This is what she wore last year at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in 2010, stunning again!

I had promised myself that I would not write anything more about the Royal Wedding, but then I came across this picture in the morning and I just couldn't help but share it.
