The Body Shop Body Mists Review: Aqua, Musk and Rose

I have heard some good things about The Body Shop fragrances and so thought of checking them out, and I wasn't disappointed. I have around 5-6 fragrances. I was looking for a body mist and they have 3 fragrances in the category.

Aqua Lily Body Spray: Rs 545 for 100 ml

It was a very very refreshing fragrance. I absolutely loved it. The fragrance is very fresh with a floral tinge and is appropriate for any time of the day.
Surprisingly, it is also cheaper than the other two body mists. I am not sure why TBS had to have different prices for the same product!

Aqua Lily: The Range
Anti-perspirant deoderant
Body lotion
Body spray
Eau de Toilette
Shower Gel

Moroccan Rose Body Mist: Rs 645 for 100 ml
This is a purely floral fragrance. It's strong, vibrant and very feminine. It is best for evenings, has an elegant and romantic touch. Being floral, it has a sweet tone and the fragrance 'precious oils from roses handpicked at dawn'. The range includes the following products.

Moroccan Rose: The Range
Body mist
Eau de Toilette
Shower Gel
Body milk
Body butter
Bath and Massage oil
Hand & Nail cream

White Musk Chiffon Body Mist: Rs 645 for 100 ml
This is a can't go wrong classic fragrance. But it felt slightly strong and too spicy in the beginning and then gradually settled into a soft and floral fragrance. I actually liked these fragrance the least. There is a huge range of products available in this fragrance.

White Musk: The Range
Anti-perspirant deoderant
Creamy cleansing body bar
Body lotion
Eau de Toilette
Eau de Parfum
Perfume oil
Sensuous body powder
Sumptuous Silk Shower Gel
Voluptuous Velvet Body Creme
Musk Chiffon Body Mist

The Body Mists in General
Body mists effect generally don't last for more than 2-3 hrs. In fact based on my experience, they last even lesser. But for a long lasting effect there are other products in this range like eau de toilette. All the body mists are non-greasy.

My Favorite
Aqua lily.. It is very refreshing and soft. Not too spicy, not too floral, it seems like a perfect blend.

Have you used one of these fragrances? Which one's your favorite?

Nina L’Elixir for Women: Review

Nina L’Elixir for Women by Nina Ricci: This is one of those perfumes which give the same 'feeling' to the visual as well as the olfactory sensibilities - the apple! I am not exactly a fan of fruity fragrances but I like interesting bottles and this bottle is cute :). Nina L'Elixir Eau de Parfum was launched late last year and is said to 'Evoke the rare and luxurious essence of a love potion.'

The Look
The bottle is in the shape of an apple (keeping with the theme of Adam and Eve's apple). The glass is deep red in color on the top and then gradually becomes transparent at the bottom. At the top you can see metallic leaves flowing out of the metallic stem. By the way, the apple bottle is not new and is an evolution of the Nina Ricci fragrance bottle designed by Lalique and Robert Ricci, Fille d'Eve in 1952.

The Fragrance
I am not really an expert when it comes to perfume notes. So that is the part I will pick up from the site. But this is how I felt about the fragrance. Initially it is very fruity and strong, sweet and vibrant; in fact a little too strong and citrus for my liking. Gradually it settles down into a milder and more likeable and sensuous fragrance and stays on for fairly long. The perfumer is Olivier Crespi, The notes are as follows.

  • Primary – Deep Red Apple
  • Top – Caipirinha Lime and Calabrian Lemon
  • Mid – Mixture of Forest Fruits and Jasmine
  • Base – Cedarwood, Warm Amber and Cotton Musk

The Range: The Nina L'Elixir Eau de Parfum is available in 30ml, 50ml and 80ml bottles.

The Price: 30ml - $47-50, 50ml - $70, 80ml - $ 90-100.
In India, the 50ml bottle is available for about Rs 3,000.

Recommendation
If you like citrus fragrances you would adore this. It is fresh, vibrant and strong. But if you don't then I would not recommend it.

Davidoff Champion, Fragrance for Men: A True Champion!

What do you see in the picture? Did you say, "weights, dumbbell, workout?" Well no, it's a Davidoff Champion EDT bottle you're looking at.

Let me be a little honest here. There are some perfumes that I can't bear, but for the rest which are all bearable, it sometimes becomes a tough job to rate which one's more bearable than the other. I mean we all have our favorites but among the other nice ones, all seem equally nice to me when it comes to fragrances. And then, the look, the package makes a difference. This one certainly scores in both the look and the fragrance.

So if your man is someone who believes in working out and staying in shape, he is going to love it. And if he is the lazy one, it is a great way to inspire him to pick up some real dumbbells! So all men will love this! Read on to know more about the product and my review of the new Davidoff Champion fragrance.

About Davidoff Champion
The fragrance Champion was launched last year. It intends to inspire men with its composition to gain power and new victories.

"Davidoff Champion is about the daily ritual of taking the time to build physical and mental strength. It puts verve into your step and triggers in you a desire to develop the latent potential within you to become a champion. Your fundamental instinct for victory and power – pushing forward boundaries, overcoming challenges."

About the Design (Designer: Alnoor)

I love the design! It is a a chunky dumbbell with stirring black-glass and head and tail have silver weights, makes it look very real!
Made of real metal with the contents boldly engraved on the cap, the bevelled-grip body gives a rough, masculine touch.
The sporty design makes it very attractive and intends to excite a will to win, a sense of resolution and iron-cast determination.

About the Fragrance

I have to say it has some complex ingredients. But I have tried to make it sound simple with wiki's help. This is the description from the Davidoff websites with my notes!

  • "Immediate refreshing impact of lemon and bergamot (a citrus fruit like lemon) create an invigorating start.
  • The heart note then gains ground with its energizing galbanum (an aromatic gum resin) essence and aromatic clary sage (an essential oil herb).
  • Davidoff Champion is completed in its dry down by the masculine classic cedarwood all the while keeping a durable oak moss allure."
About the Range
The fragrance is available as 50 ml EDT, 90 ml EDT, 90 ml After Shave Splash, 100ml After Shave Balm, 200ml Hair and Body Shampoo and 70 grams deodorant stick.

Price and Availability: (EDT)
I could mostly find the 90ml bottle.
In US it is available for $ 97-$105 online. I also saw 50ml for $ 60 on a couple of sites.
In India, it is available for Rs 4800 in major retails like Shopper's Stop, Lifestyle etc.
It's a bit expensive and I am still hunting for the 50ml bottle.

What I like about Davidoff Champion

  • I love love love the design! It's innovative, it's inspiring and it's sporty and masculine!
  • Of course I love the fragrance too! It's very very refreshing.
  • It fades gradually fades but the freshness lingers for a long long time.
What I don't quite like about Davidoff Champion
90ml is a bit expensive, and 50ml is not available easily!

Recommendation
I think it makes a great gift! As I said earlier, your man will like it if he is a gym lover, and in case he isn't one, it would still inspire him! I think it's a hit with everyone and the design is great! Like me if you also think that $ 100 is a little too much, the 50ml EDT bottle is the perfect choice! Otherwise you could get him the after-shave!

Play for Her from Givenchy: Worth Playing With!

Timberlake and Noot Sear
Play for Her is the latest fragrance for women from Givenchy in India. This is the feminine counterpart of the famous Play for Him launched in 2008 by Justine Timberlake. He was back in 2010 to front the feminine version!

The fragrance comes in two editions:
Pink Play for Her: The lighter version
Purple Play Intense for Her: The bolder version

         Play                             Play Intense

What I really like about 'Play': The Package!!! It is quite a looker!
  • The package comes in the shape of an I Pod: Very innovative and interesting. It even has the 'Play' sign on it along with 'Rewind' and 'Fast forward'.
  • The sassy pink and the silver lining makes it very feminine.
  • It is very very sleek and can easily be slided into even a small bag.
  • Comes in 3 sizes: 30 ml (1 Oz.), 50 ml (1.7 Oz.) and 75 ml (2.5 Oz.)

About the 'Fragrance': These are the key 'ingredients' (Clockwise from Top Left)

Amber             Sandalwood          Tiara Flower         Red Peppercorn

  • 'Play' is floral, woody and fruity! It is subtle, yet sexy and seductive. It lasts for quite a long time.
  • 'Play Intense' on the other hand is a combination of  floral, woody and amber tones. It is a bold and strong fragrance. In fact I felt that the spicy tone was a bit too strong.
Availability and Price: The fragrance is available in leading stores like 'Shoppers Stop'.
  • Play: Rs 4650 for 75 ml ( $81 at Sephora), 3900 for 50 ml ( $69 at Sephora)
  • Play Intense: Rs 5050 for 75 ml ( $85 at Sephora), 4200 for 50 ml ( $73 at Sephora)
Overall Verdict: This new fragrance is gorgeous. You must try it.

My Favorite between the two : Sassy Pink 'Play'!
It is definitely more feminine and gorgeous in terms of both the look and fragrance.

Romance by Ralph Lauren: The Perfect Valentine's Day Gift!

With Valentine's Day less than a week away, Romance by Ralph Lauren (for Women) is certainly a great choice for a romantic and sensual gift. The name says it all!

It's a blend of velvety woods, extravagant floral and seductive musk.
Picture from Google Images
This is the fragrance in a snapshot!

  • The EDT comes in a very simple package.
  • The scent is subtle, sensual and elegant.
  • Usually recemmended for evening wear, but I use it everyday.
  • The fragrance lasts for a fairly long time, almost all day I would say.

Size: Available in 1 Oz. (30 ml) 1.7 Oz. (50 ml) and 3.4 Oz. (100 ml). I have generally seen the 100 ml around.

Availability: Available in all leading stores like Shopper's Stop etc.

Price: 100 ml is available for Rs 5800 in Shopper's Stop. Yes, it's slightly expensive. But in the US Perfumania stores, you will get it for around
      $ 74 for 3.4 Oz.
      $ 58 for 1.7 Oz.
      $ 42 for 1Oz.

If you know someone visiting from there, get one soon!

Will I buy it again: Well, firstly I did not buy it, it was gifted :) and secondly, I would take a really long time to finish that 100 ml bottle. But I would definitely recommend it!

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

So girls, ask for 'Romance' this season, you will love it!
Guys, gift her one, you will love it even more!!
