My 'I Wish' Outfit of the Day!

While roaming around in the malls yesterday, I saw this interesting dress at one of the shops in DLF mall at Saket. Pretty unique! Could serve as a very interesting wedding gown too :)
See it for yourself.

Outfit of the Day: Saree at Work

Hi everyone, this was almost a couple of weeks ago when I wore a saree at work.. That's a rather rare occasion but I love wearing sarees in general. When I was a kid, I actually often tried to tie a saree when there was noone at home or mom was asleep in the afternoon. And now when I have a substantial portion of my cupboard dedicated to sarees, I don't seem to find enough occasions!

I have a variety of sarees but for office I prefer the silk ones since they're light and easy to manage.

Where to buy office sarees from..
I am nowhere close to being an expert here (if only it was the formal skirts section).. But I usually buy all sarees from Kolkata and my favorite store is Adi Dhakeshwari Bastralaya. They're huuuge and have a nice variety. This one's from there too.

About this Saree
I don't know much about the saree technicals.

  • This is a silk saree in bright red patterns.
  • I like it because it is bright and nice and the pattern is not at all traditional.
  • And ofcourse it is very light and easy to manage.
  • Price: Don't exactly remember but I think around Rs 1500

The Accessories
The look of a saree is again incomplete without some accessories. I prefer slightly hanging stuff for the neck. This is what I am wearing here. I got this from Shopper's Stop for Rs 400. This had a pair of studs with it, but I preferred something hanging for the ear as well :)

I picked up this pair from a local vendor in Kerala. They cost me almost nothing. But I have seen the exact pair of Fashion and You for around 200 bucks :)

Hope you enjoyed my outfit :). In case you're looking for a nice place to go to for fancy blouses, you can find some info here.

Outfit of the Day: Formally Casual

I know formally casual sounds absolutely contradictory!! It's just my term for semi-formal. The blue floral dress that I am wearing here is perfect for a Thursday/ Friday wear at work and also for a casual Saturday evening! Here's what I am wearing.
Dress: Van Heusen Women
Price: Rs 1800 Approx

I love blue and love flowery prints in blue even more! And this sleeveless dress in floral prints in blue is one of my favorites! It's vibrant yet semi-formal and super comfortable! Very nice for summers!

Accessories: Trendy Baubles
Price: Hoops - Rs 100 approx, Neckpiece - Rs 299

I paired this already vibrant dress with some light accessories, a long neck piece in blue and silver and my all time favorites, the giant hoops, both from Trendy Baubles. It's actually becoming one of my favorite accessories hub! They have accessories which are trendy as well as affordable!

Footwear: Flats from Mumbai Street Shopping
Price: Rs 150 :)

As you may already know, I am a bit of color coordinator freak, I completed my look with blue sandals and blue eye-make up. Had picked up these sandals from Fashion street, Mumbai in February this year. Surprisingly, they're still in good shape :). Only problem, they skid a lot on plain surfaces. But I can live with that..

That's it for today, hope you're having a great weekend.. I am having a relaxed one after a while!!

My Red Pasta Weekend and Monday Formal Outfit!

I am back with another of my headless, silly pictures :). But let's first talk about the weekend. This weekend was amazing with the surprise storms and rains in Delhi! Could have never imagined a comfortable day without making the AC work in the month of May in the city of Delhi! But it did happen..

And if the weather's nice I feel like cooking. So what to cook in this pleasant weather, I opened my fridge and saw the pizza pasta sauce bottle hidden behind the often used chocolate sauce bottle. I checked the expiry date and there were just about a month left! So menu decided, not because I felt like cooking/ having pasta, but because I was feeling guilty about the soon-to-be-expired pizza pasta sauce, which while buying I had thought would be put to good use.

Now where to get the recipe from, had always made the white one till now. I googled it, and guess what I couldn't find a pasta with red sauce recipe! Of course my google skill sucks. But all the recipes showed how to make red sauce, none talked how to use the ready-made ones, whether to dilute it, add something or directly use it! Called a few friends and they had the same answer. Finally took a closer look at the bottle, and the instructions were right there! Why didn't I see that earlier!! Because again, my search skill sucks! (So rest assured I write all original :)

So the pasta turned out to be pretty okay. All I had to do was add quesl amount of water to the red sauce!
This had absolutely nothing to do with fashion/make-up, just felt like sharing.

Soon the weekend disappeared and it was Monday :(, office time..
So here's what I wore to work.
I'm already bored of these indoor pictures, but it's too funny to go out and set the camera on a timer!

Top: Stretchable Dark Brown High Neck (Random shopping in NYC)
Skirt: Beige Stretchable Pencil Skirt from Van Heusen (the babe in the picure is from the catalogue)

 Accessories
Nothing besides my favorite fossil brown watch and a pearl necklace from street shopping.

Bag
I'm not sure if this picture is doing justice to my 'stuff everything'
bag. I hated carrying d boring black laptop bags to work and got this from shopper's stop a couple of years ago. Yes it's been bearing d load for over 2 years now.
If I ever do a 'whats in my bag', it will remind you of d magician who keeps pulling out scarves, one after the other from his sleeve and it never seems to stop.. I keep my laptop, basic office stationary along with some can't do without make up stuff..plus, a fruit box. My maid's been constantly complaining to my husband that I don't eat fruits, hence I have stuffed that not so small fruit box also here..and not to forget my fat wallet, (fat with tenners, I ain't rich)

Shoes
Brown Peeptoes from Tresmode.

As I Turn Another Year Older...I do my First OOTD :)

Yes, it's that day of the year when I don't mind the tons of messages and phone calls waking me up early in the morning before my usual schedule.. In fact that is the best thing about birthdays, we get to catch up with friends and relatives who we usually forget to even say a 'hi' to because of our busy and complex life!

Sometimes I find it funny that even our special days are so predictable and routine. Like I came back from office last night and  quickly checked inside the fridge to make sure that he had not forgotten the cake :). Of course he hadn't. And he actually surprised me with a special gift :).

These were my first thoughts on turning 29, first I must change the 'About Me' section in my blog where I said I was a 28 year old risk professional..and second, it's definitely time to start using some anti-ageing products :).

An ideal birthday would have been spending the day in a spa, pampering myself and then going out for dinner in a sexy outfit to some place really nice. But alas, ideal things rarely happen and so here I am, going to my usual workplace but in a new outfit, and the dinner plan is still on! And here's the new outfit..

I thought I must do something different since it's my special day, so I decided to come up my first OOTD.
The picture's quite hazy and posy, but next time will be better :). Waiting to get a tripod.

This is a dress that I had bought from Van Heusen Women. But winter was on then and it got lost in my cupboard. I finally took it out! I have written about it in my earlier post here.

Tell me what you think.
